The company started in 2001 as Green Guide Europe, a wholesaler supplying grow shops across Europe with equipment and seeds. Out of that network came a collection of genetics, and in 2009 the Blimburn Seeds brand was founded on it.
In 2012 they went to the United States looking for elite clones that were not available in Europe, among them Girl Scout Cookies, Blue Dream, Purple Kush and Fire OG. Most of their production now happens in California, while the head office stays in Barcelona.
They breed rather than resell: the catalogue holds over a thousand cultivars, including their own Mamba Negra, Santa Muerte and Wombat. In 2024 they were given the ICA award for best seed bank in the United States.
